was watching channel u's jap drama Bai Se Ju Ta, and the things mentioned in the show really struck me... worth thinking...i seldom watch jap shows cos i dun like their acting and sory, but this is one that i think is really worth watching. i didnt watch the 1st half of the show and only caught up after the operation failure thing happpened.

the docter zaizen was one which saved hundreds of lives, and yet becos of one mistake he made he was sued. in the 1st place, he definitely wanted the operation to run well, but his misjudgement and overconfidence just happen to screw things up. i think the worst thing was that ever since he started to lie, he had no choice but to continue and even had to create new lies to cover the old ones. and he even dragged in the innocent "liu yuan", asked him to doctor the reports and tried to shut him up.

all these becos he couldnt afford to lose his position as the professor. maybe many ppl would think that he is bad and should be punished. but seriously thinking, if he was to get stripped of his qualification as a doctor (or maybe just the position as a prof), wouldnt he lose the chance to save even more patients or do more research for the curing of cancer? so afterall, becos he lost 1 patient in a operation, he could not longer be a looked upon as a good doc. this will definitely his affect job. so who is going to suffer more eventually? is it the victim's family, or is it patients whom he could have done a good op on them to save them?so was it right(or good) to sue him in the 1st place?

its really worth thinking. zaizen was afterall a good/skilled doctor in treating his patients, his intention to save the patients were correct, probably its was the incident that showed the conflict between his ethics(cos he lied) and professional judgement. to me i would feel that his wrong judgement could be forgiven, cos its understandable that he cant possibly have to confirm everything before an op is carried out. wat was wrong was that he tried to cover things up, and insisted that no one reminded him abt the possible tumour. from the professional/technical view, he could be forgiven, but not on his dishonest.

i was thinking, if i were the chairman of the hospital, would i sack him and ban him from being a doctor? and if i dun, how am i going to answer to the victim? if i really do, den will hundreds of ppl have a lower chance of healing? is a doctor with skills but not ethics still a doctor?

the way the show approaches to the whole lawsuit is really good. i've got lotsa thots, but sorry i cant pen them down well. lousy english. anyway worth watching.
