just came back from work. wanted to go buy my shoes at queensway, but too lazy to go liao.... anyway just a lil update.
went to watch memoirs of a geisha on thur. quite a good one in terms of the actors, but the love btw zhang ziyi and ken watanabe is not toushing to me at all. cos its like so unrealistic, a 9 yr old girl wont like a guy as old as her father. she might feel grateful to him, but i seriously think that when u are just 9, u wont keep on thinking/liking of the guy who bought u a sweet ice, till u are 20 right? and the worse thing is that chiyo can transform from a little girl to a young lady but the chairman wont be old in his looks one wor? wat brand of skincare he uses ah? so effective de sia...
yah and so due to the above reasons, i find the ending abit stupid. gong li is definitely good, esp the parts when she tries to make life difficult for chiyo. i would be damn scared of her if she's infront of me haha. michelle yeoh is forever like so out in the movies, not only becos she is darker den the rest, she doesnt have that 'elegant look'. doesnt look like a "famous geisha" to me in any sense. dunno how to describe but i wont wanna pay 10,000 yen for her mizuage. seriously. i rather have gong li and zhang ziyi's. hoho.
i had actually expected the movie to have more focus on chiyo's path to being a famous geisha. as in the things she had to learn, how to walk dance etc. but seems like they just "chao3 chao3 liao3 shi" everything in a few min, and proceeded on with the fighting btw gong li and zhang ziyi etc. not that an indepth one.
the movie's slightly superficial in terms of truely reflecting a geisha's life but from the entertainment view, its not too bad though... oh yah, does anyone think that ken watanabe looks like chow yun fatt in the movie? i feel he does leh... nvm he's really charming anyway... not only in this movie, but in the last samurai!!!!
